So... How you you succeed by default, like what does that mean?
Stop me if you've ever heard this:
Every time things start going well, something bad happens...
Every time I find a great person, something goes wrong...
Every time I think I'm close to promotion, this always happens..
Every time I get my savings up, ...
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt! One step forward and two steps back.
It's kind of like a video game, if you don't beat the big guy at the end of the level you have to start over AND until you master that choice, you will face it again and again.
BUT, life goes by and when get to that same choice again, we forgot all we learned and make the same choices or take the same actions we did last time, and confirm that choice.
That's when we create a cycle, where we expect a certain outcome ("I can never lose weight, I will never be happy, I will just quit again..."). THAT is when months turn into years and since nothing has changed in life; we begin to accept where we are at and create even more defaults.
That's where I come in
I could give you the secrets to success, I could show you the way, I could even take you there but if you don't address your default behaviors the outcome will always be the same.
In computing, the "Default" setting is the preset way the computer operates.
Look at your phone, it has an option to restore to default settings. But we don't do that (unless something is wrong) because we have customized our phone's defaults to make our life easier. We have productivity apps, favorites, contacts, saved pages, etc. We changed our phone's defaults so that it doesn't have to search again, or load again, or find our favorite song again.
Can you imagine if you had to find an app or web page on your phone using the original defaults?
That's how you and I are when we are trying to apply new habits, or change our attitude or way of thinking, etc. We are trying to put new commands on the old default settings.
The simplest thing to do is to make the new habit or new way of thinking; the NEW DEFAULT BEHAVIOR!

I've spent my career working in nonprofit and government, trying to make the world a better place by helping communities through social education, mentoring, and service.
Unfortunately, most programs are designed to produce quick, superficial results without addressing the default behaviors that lead to chronic outcomes. I realized that unless I was able to produce deep, lasting results: I was a part of the problem and not a solution.
